Poor quality and dilapidated hotel. Avoid. Sadly, this hotel has fallen on hard times. It was barely functional. Sparse rooms with faulty equipment. No food or very poor quality. Dilapidated. We were the only guests and moved out after 1 night. The staff were pleasant and helpful, but the hotel has not seen any investment for some time.

Nice Place Stayed here a couple of nights. Front desk attendants are professional and courteous. Our room and the facilities, generally, appear well-kept, neat and clean. Free WiFi. Restaurant service is quite slow but once we got it the food was good.

Super friendly staff Extremely engaged and friendly staff. Very clean hotel. Shuttle to and from airport included in your stay. Price could be lower. Pool is nice but they only have 3chairs, and if it rains the cushion will retain water! Bartender by the pool is fun and makes it easy and comfortable to sit and have a glass of wine or drink. Restaurant is ok. Breakfast buffet is fine by Ghanaian standard.

Great Stay - 4 total nights Coconut Grove was a wonderful place to stay. The rooms are clean and the amenities (gym, pool, restaurant, bar) are all very well kept. The staff was very friendly and catered to our requests without hesitation. Walking distance to restaurants and clubs in the city. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice Stop in Accra We visited for one night before departing for Kumasi and had an excellent experience at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel. We were given fresh coconuts upon our arrival and a special meal was prepared for us as we had arrived late in the evening. The staff was friendly and the rooms comfortable, although our air conditioning did not work perfectly. However, overall, we had a great time, and the plantains which were served at breakfast were the best I've ever had (better than the Caribbean).

ONE OF ACCRA'S HIDDEN GEMS The time-honoured concept of offering genuine “service with a smile” is a rare thing to encounter these days but the idea is alive and well in the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel in Accra, Ghana. From the very first phone calls from the UK, the standard of customer service we were offered was exceptional. Thanks to British Airways, the 2-hour flight delay made us worry that the free hotel transport we had requested would be long gone when we arrived but as we exited Accra’s brand spanking new Terminal 3, it was great to see our name on a board held by Mr Hammond, the Regency’s friendly and approachable driver who made negotiating Accra's chaotic traffic seem simple.. Check-in was smooth and professional but rather than being met with a forced grin common to many reception desks, Alpha, the duty manager, seemed genuinely glad to greet us and welcomed us with a much-appreciated chilled coconut. Things got better as, due to the hotel being very full, we were upgraded to a suite. If first impressions really do count, Alpha had scored a direct hit. Check out was equally painless with every effort being made to ensure that all was in order and accounts balanced. Our baggage was left behind reception as we checked out in the morning. On returning in the evening for the free transport to the airport to catch our flight back to UK, we were very generously allowed to use a spare room to change into warmer clothes more fitted to the English weather. Our room was spotlessly clean and very spacious. The incredible solid, hand-carved wooden furniture featuring traditional African scenes was amazing and this was replicated throughout the hotel. The furniture on the poolside patio was incredible. I cannot remember sitting around a table where each of the chairs had been individually carved from a single piece of wood – not as joint in sight. All of the rooms are in excellent condition with the blessing of air conditioning to help cope with the high temperatures and generally add to the comfort. The ever-present, vigilant and strong 24-hour security team ensured that access to the site was restricted and this helped enhance the feeling of being kept safe. The hotel is very well located being more or less midway between the airport and the city centre which provides easy access to the Accra’s vibrant night life and restaurants. The food in the hotel’s dining room is good with a menu featuring many local Ghanaian dishes and we ate there most evenings. Our stay at The Regency was amazing. The friendly and helpful staff give a true warm Ghanaian feel to the place. It did not take very long to get to know each of the staff members we came into contact with and greet them by name. I am in total agreement with the comment in Misty B’s review that you enter the hotel as a guest but leave as a friend. This hotel is a real gem and is infinitely preferable to the many over-priced “Westernised” chain hotels that are the alternatives. Staying at the Regency reminds you that you are in Ghana and not some annex to a European or American or Dutch franchise. We will most certainly stay at the Coconut Grove Regency next time we visit Ghana and would recommend the place to anyone visiting the country. Give the hotel a try – you will not be disappointed.

THERE ARE NO STRANGERS HERE, ONLY FRIENDS YOU HAVEN'T MET YET Upon check in I notice that the Staff was excellent. I was greeted with a fresh coconut that was nice and cold, I immediately felt at home. There are few things in life more heartwarming than to be welcomed and Vida at the front reception made me feel that way every time I entered the hotel. The rooms were such a great size and ALWAYS clean best part of my day was coming there and taking a shower and preparing myself to have a cocktail. Derrick the bartender always recommended a nice drink and had enjoyable conversation about Ghana and what I discovered. He was just so easy to talk to and made my dinning experience so much more enjoyable. The food at the hotel was delicious. I spent a lot of time just relaxing in the courtyard or sitting by the pool and enjoy the sounds of Accra. Martin our concierge went above and behind to help us make our stay in Ghana a memorable one. He actually went to the Art Center with us to purchase gift for our family and was just one of the nicest individuals I have ever met. If you are looking for place to stay that you enter as guest and leave as friends then Coconut Grove Regency Hotel is it. I will return to Ghana again here is my home away from home.

1st time visit to Accra, Ghana from the U.S. Wonderful Place to Stay! Coming from the U.S. I didn't know what to expect with the hotels in Ghana but this hotel was really mind blowing. Everytime we walked into the hotel, they opened the door, they smiled and greeted us. From the front desk, to the restaurant, to the room and laundry attendants to the maintenance workers each one had a friendly personality and went out of there way to make sure our stay was exceptional. We stayed here for 6 days, and didn't have to worry about anything because they made sure we had what we needed to feel comfortable at the hotel and in Ghana. The staff also recommended places in the area to eat and socialize. The service was remarkable and I will never forget about my experience at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel. It is definitely "MEMORIES WORTH REPEATING." If you're looking for a place to stay in Accra, Ghana, I would truly recommend this place.
